Show Facts

RIP Swirl is an Australian project by Charlie Ward, known for blending shoegaze with trip-hop, ambient pop, and vaporous electronic textures. The feature, Winter, is Samira Winter — a Brazilian-American shoegaze artist whose project Winter became a huge reference point in modern “soft-focus” indie gaze.

Cardrivers are part of the newer wave of ultra-melodic lo-fi indie/shoegaze bands popping up through Bandcamp and DIY scenes. Their sound pulls from both emo revival and Flying Nun-style jangle pop.

dust are from Australia and have become one of the most acclaimed modern shoegaze/post-punk crossover bands. They’re heavily influenced by Sonic Youth and MBV, but also by noisy Australian rock like The Scientists. Their recordings often intentionally preserve room noise and tape hiss to create a “live rehearsal” intimacy.

Dazy is the solo project of James Goodson. He records a lot of music in DIY home setups but layers it into this massive power-pop/shoegaze wall.

Spacemoth is a collaboration between: Jane Remover (adjacent orbit) and experimental shoegaze/electronic scenes online

Chinese American Bear blend bilingual indie pop with absurdist humor and deeply emotional songwriting. They often incorporate Mandarin and English interchangeably without translating — which creates a very natural diasporic feel.

Weird Nightmare is Alex Edkins from the band METZ. METZ are known for brutal noise rock, so Weird Nightmare surprises people because it’s much more melodic and power-pop influenced.

Morabeza Tobacco are from the UK and make extremely cinematic psych-pop. Their name references “morabeza,” a Cape Verdean term describing warmth/hospitality. They use looping and drone textures more heavily than standard shoegaze bands.
